COURSE DESCRIPTION

FILM DIRECTION course by Mirage Film Institute provides students with the all-around filmmaking experience necessary to make their own films. Though there are some theory classes, the focus of the course is hands-on experience. It prepares students to make independent feature Films or work as Assistant Directors.

This intensive course demands that the student has a passion for filmmaking and commits to hard work and team effort.

📣    SUCCESS STORIES:  2 of our alumni have made feature films in Tamil. Some are currently working as Assistant Directors with current films in production. Many have created award-winning short films. Three of our students have gone to study Master’s degree in Film Making in the US with our recommendation.

SUBJECTS COVERED:
🎯   PRE-PRODUCTION
* Story development, Scene list, Script writing, Script review and editing, Story boarding, Budgeting and Financing, Auditions and Casting

🎯   PRODUCTION
* Production Planning, Scheduling, Scene breakdown and blocking, Cinematography Techniques, Camera movements, Lighting, Visual Story Telling, Directing the Crew, Directing Actors, and Sound recording.

🎯   POST-PRODUCTION
* Film Editing, Colour Correction, Sound Design, Songs and BGM, Sound Effects, Visual Effects, Digital Post Processing.

🎯   DISTRIBUTION
* Film Promotion, Sale, Distribution, Film Festivals, OTT, Other distribution platforms.

This course covers Directing Narrative films, Documentaries and Ad films. Both commercial and independent filmmaking are included.,

PROJECT WORK: Students will write, shoot, direct and edit a short film individually and another short film as a group.

DURATION:  Six months. Part-time Classes. Weekdays or Weekends. Online with optional offline section.

CERTIFICATE  will be provided on successful completion.

COACH:   Our coach, Mr.Sam Kumar M.Tech (IIT-B), learned filmmaking in the US where he lived for over 10 years. He studied Script Writing directly from SYD FIELD, the godfather of modern script writing. He has taken many Master classes and Direction Workshops while in the US.

He has written, shot, edited and directed many Narrative story-based short films, Documentary films, Music videos and Corporate films. He has made over 8 documentary short films, some of them for he made for clients.

His Documentary films shot in Singapore have won awards at International Film Festivals including Germany, Singapore and Vietnam. 

His Short Film PARIVU won awards at many Indian and International Film Festivals.
